MCX runs far longer than the equity market, and its candles hang off a 09:00 open rather than 09:15. The MCX preset aligns the countdown to that grid.

The evening close moves with US daylight saving because MCX tracks international benchmarks: roughly 23:30 in the Indian winter and 23:55 in summer. Set your own close time in Settings if yours differs — the session countdown follows whatever you enter.

Because 09:00 is a round hour, the MCX grid lines up with clock time — unlike NSE, where the 09:15 open shifts everything by a quarter of an hour. That is the single biggest difference between the two, and the reason a timer built for equities disagrees with a commodity chart.
Crude oil and natural gas see their heaviest Indian volume after 17:00, when US inventory data and the NYMEX open drive the move. A long session means a lot of candles: on a 14.5-hour day there are 174 five-minute candles, and the last one before 23:30 is where positions get squared.
Open the 5-minute MCX timer or 15-minute. Before 09:00 the display counts down to the open instead of ticking through candles that are not trading.
