Bitcoin, Ethereum and altcoins · 24×7 · UTC-anchored
Crypto never closes, so there is no session open to hang candles from. Every major exchange — Binance, Bybit, Coinbase, Delta, CoinDCX — anchors its candles to 00:00 UTC. In Indian Standard Time that is 05:30, which is why crypto candles land on the half hour rather than the hour.
| Interval | Closes at (IST) |
|---|---|
| 1H | every hour at :30 — 09:30, 10:30, 11:30 … |
| 4H | 05:30, 09:30, 13:30, 17:30, 21:30, 01:30 |
| 6H | 05:30, 11:30, 17:30, 23:30 |
| 12H | 05:30 and 17:30 |
| 1D | 05:30 IST — the daily candle close |
| 1W | Monday 05:30 IST |
The daily close at 05:30 IST catches Indian traders out constantly: the candle that decides a daily breakout settles while most of the country is asleep, and the weekly candle closes on Monday morning rather than at the weekend.
The 4H chart is the workhorse of crypto swing trading, and its boundaries at 05:30, 09:30, 13:30, 17:30, 21:30 and 01:30 IST are where a lot of liquidity clusters. A timer that anchors to midnight local time would put those boundaries at 04:00, 08:00 and 12:00 — wrong by ninety minutes, and enough to make you act on a candle that has not closed.
Open the 4-hour crypto timer, 1-hour, or daily. Since crypto trades 24×7 there is no session countdown — just the candle.
CoinDCX, WazirX and Delta Exchange all follow the same UTC grid as global venues, so the crypto preset works regardless of where you trade. If your platform displays candles in IST, the numbers will still land on :30 — that is the UTC anchor showing through, not a bug.
