NSE, BSE and MCX · Indian Standard Time
The closing bell marks the end of the trading session. On Indian equity markets it rings at 15:30 IST; on MCX the commodity session runs until 23:30. This site is named after it — Closebell counts down to the close of every candle, and to the close of the session itself.

The last half hour is usually the busiest part of the Indian session. Intraday positions are squared off, funds rebalance, and the closing price is what settles derivatives, marks portfolios and prints on every chart. On NSE and BSE the official closing price is not simply the last traded price — it is the volume‑weighted average of trades in the final thirty minutes, which is why the 15:00–15:30 window carries more weight than its length suggests.
A 375‑minute session does not divide evenly into 10, 30 or 60 minutes. On an hourly chart the final candle opens at 15:15 and closes at 15:30 — a quarter of the length of every other candle that day. Traders who act on hourly closes often miss that the last one has had a fraction of the time to form. The NSE candle timer shows exactly how long is left in it.
Closebell shows the session countdown under the candle timer: how much of the trading day is left, and, once the market is shut, how long until it opens again. Before 09:15 the big display switches to the wait for the opening bell instead of counting candles that are not trading.

The counterpart to the closing bell is the open: 09:15 IST for NSE and BSE equity and derivatives, after the pre‑open call auction between 09:00 and 09:08. MCX opens at 09:00. Every candle on your chart is measured from that opening bell, which is why a 10‑minute NSE candle starts at 10:25 rather than 10:20 — explained in the market timings reference.
There is no closing bell on an exchange holiday. Those dates are published yearly by NSE, BSE and MCX and are not built into this site, so check the official calendar before relying on a countdown.
